South West monsoon areas


JUNE
South West monsoon areas
  • Completion of dadap lopping; planting dadap stakes
  • Planting stakes of shade plants.
  • Closing pits, planting, "ball" and `root' plants including supply planting.
  • Staking and mulching.
  • Weeding, desuckering.
  • Clearing of drains, renovation of trenches and pits.
  • Borer tracing.
  • Installation of light traps for collection and destruction of moths of hairy caterpillars.
  • Control measures against shoot-mealybug, and green scale, if necessary.
  • Completion of centering and handling of bushes in black rot endemic blocks and spraying with 1 Bordeaux mixture or 0.03% (120 g / 200 ltr of water) Bavistin 50 WP (Carbendazim).
  • Pre-monsoon spraying with Bayleton 25 WP or Bordeaux mixture to be completed early.
  • Nursery: Tinning and removal of pendal depending on weather and aftercare.
  • Spot spray with endosulfan or application of Beauveria bassiana may be taken up, if berry borer is noticed.
North-East monsoon areas
Same as above, except items 1 and 2. Liming wherever necessary

JULY
South-West monsoon areas
  • Handling, centering and desuckering, Removal and destruction of black rot affected twigs, leaves etc. Drenching spray with 1 5 Bordeaux mixture or 0.03% Bavistin 50 WP (Carbendazim) during break in the rain.
  • Weeding
  • Planting including supply planting - weather permitting
  • Removal and burning of shot-hole borer infested twigs
  • Nursery: Aftercare of seedlings
  • Berry borer control measures as mentioned earlier.
North-East monsoon areas
  • Dadap topping
  • Planting dadap stakes, permanent shade seedlings and Coffee depending on weather conditions

AUGUST
South-West monsoon areas
  • Weeding and desuckering
  • Handling and centering
  • Planting, if weather permits
  • Borer tracing
  • Control measures against cockchafer, if necessary
  • Removal and burning of shot-hole borer infested twigs.
  • Spraying against black rot and berry blotch (1% Bordeaux)
  • Manuring (during break in the monsoon)
  • Control measures against berry borer.
North-East monsoon areas

  • Pre-monsoon spraying with 0.5% Bordeaux mixture against leaf rust.
